SF3 2023 is here! The 9th season of the SmartFone Flick Fest is open for entries and we want your films; shorts, minis, feature films, VR, AR, 360 and films made by kids, tweens and teens. We want them all.

This season we have 5 categories:

  1. SF3 Gala Finals – best short film awards for films up to 20 mins.
  2. SF3 Kids Awards – best short film awards for films made by filmmakers 16 and under at the time of filming and up to 10 mins.
  3. SF3 Mini Award – for micro films up to 3 mins with any interpretation of the 2023 theme – UP
  4. SF3 Feature Film Award – a minimum of 40 mins with no max.
  5. SF360 Award – for VR, AR and 360 films.

Enter by September 1st (last deadline) to share in over $50,000 in prize.

The Broken Hill City Library will be hosting a FREE smartphone video making masterclass for tweens and teens with Angela from SF3 during the Easter school holidays on Wednesday 12th April. Angela will guide you through the process of making and editing a film on a phone, iPad or tablet with the idea that you will have a finished product at the end of the workshop.
If you don’t have a device to use for the masterclass, one can be borrowed from the library; you must be a library member to borrow a device.
This masterclass is part of the Holiday Break program supported by the Office for Regional Youth in partnership with Create NSW.

Zoom Lens – Expression of Interests now open!
Are you interested in creating video works but don’t know where to start? Have you ever thought to experiment with your phone to create something artistic?

Bankstown Arts Centre is inviting young female identifying people (aged 16-25) to be part of Zoom Lens – a new youth-centred, innovative digital art program.

Participants will be involved in an intensive six-week program, working collaboratively and independently to create a video artwork or short film. The works will respond to important themes related to online culture and more. The finalised work will be on display at our upcoming 2023 Youth Week event in April,
The Area: World Tour.

Program participation also includes a $50 gift card.
