Entries are open for our SF3 AI Award for AI made films up to 20 mins. These films must be created using AI and can be any genre or topic. These films must be written by a writer, only made using AI. At SF3, we are all about creatives but we are also allabout utilising new technology to aid creativity and to create. That’s why we’re excited to see your AI films. Get them to us by September 1st.

You can choose any of these stories to adapt into your Mini or Gala SF3 films.

Do you have an idea for a short film? Then put together a simple 1-2 page written pitch or 1-2 min video pitch complete with character breakdowns and send it to us by June 17th to be in the running for our SF3 and Chicken and Chips Casting Pitch Award.
The winning pitch will be guaranteed a spot in our SF3 red-carpet Gala Finals screening on November 8th and be in the running for over $50,000 in prizes PLUS the Chicken and Chips Casting Team will work with you to professionally cast your film, allowing you to work with one of the biggest casting director companies in Australia.
How it works:
1. Email your pitch to us at sf3@sf3.com.au by June 17th. Pitches for this first round should be a 1-2 page synopsis and character breakdown or a 1-2 min video pitch plus character breakdown. Sell us your film, sell the characters and your team.
2. The Chicken and Chips Casting Team will shortlist finalists by June 24th. All shortlisted filmmakers will have 1 week to send us their treatments, pitch decks, full scripts and any other information.
3. One winner will selected by July 8th and then you will begin working with the C&C Team to cast & shoot your film for our September 1st deadline.
4. The winning film is guaranteed a place in our SF3 Gala Finals line-up screening on November 8th in Sydney and eligible for all of our big Gala awards.
Please note that by sending us an entry into our Pitch Award, you are agreeing to all of the SF3 T&Cs plus these extra rules:
1. The winning film must by made for our September 1st, 2025 deadline.
2. The winning film must be shot on a smartphone or tablet.
3. This particular award is open for Australian filmmakers only.
4. Anyone entering this award must not have any casting in place.
5. The Chicken & Chips Team has first right of refusal for any further work on this film for the foreseeable future.
6. All films must be a max of 20 mins.
